Built for
Farmers.

Midwest Air Drill Services is a specialized agricultural labor company focused exclusively on John Deere air seeders. We exist because farmers need fast, reliable, expert service from people who understand exactly how these machines work — not a general shop trying to figure it out.

Based in Clearbrook, MN, we serve farmers across Minnesota with both field and shop service. Whether you need a quick pre-season tune-up or a full reconditioning before spring planting, we show up ready to work.

The Midwest Air Drill Difference

There are plenty of shops that will look at your air seeder. There aren't many who specialize in nothing else.

Specialized Expertise

We work exclusively on John Deere air seeders. That focus means faster diagnosis, fewer mistakes, and better results than a generalist shop.

Pro-Level Diagnostics

John Deere Pro Service software gives us dealership-grade diagnostic capability in the field or your shop — no guessing, no trial and error.

Planting Season Ready

We understand that downtime during planting season costs you money. We work efficiently and prioritize getting your equipment back in the field fast.

Better Seed Placement

Our stainless steel upgrades and precision reconditioning work directly improve seed-to-soil contact, distribution accuracy, and overall seeding performance.

Farmer-Owned Business

Chris and Kyle know what it's like to run a farming operation. You'll deal directly with the owners — no front desk, no upsells, just straight talk and honest work.

Minnesota Based

We're local. We understand Minnesota soils, planting windows, and what's at stake when your equipment isn't ready when the weather breaks.

The Importance of Air Drill Maintenance

An air seeder is one of the most complex and highest-impact machines on your operation. What happens in those first few inches of soil at planting sets the ceiling for everything that follows — stand uniformity, emergence timing, and final yield. Regular, thorough maintenance is the only way to protect that investment season after season.

From seed tube geometry and opener disc wear to fan calibration and hose integrity, every system on your air drill works together. When one component is off, the effects ripple across the entire seeder. Staying ahead of wear — not reacting to it — is what separates a good crop from a great one.

Pre-Season Inspection

Before every planting season, walk every component — seed tubes, hoses, disc openers, press wheels, and coulters. Catching worn or cracked parts before the first pass prevents breakdowns mid-field when time is most critical.

Seed Tube Angle & Integrity

John Deere air seeders are engineered to present seed at a precise angle — typically around 7 degrees — behind the opener disc. Worn, bent, or cracked tubes shift that geometry, leading to uneven seed placement, poor furrow contact, and reduced emergence rates.

Opener Disc Wear

Disc openers cut the furrow your seed depends on. Worn discs create a wider, shallower groove — causing inconsistent depth and poor furrow closure. Check disc diameter and edge sharpness every season and replace pairs together to maintain balanced soil engagement.

Air & Fan System

The fan is the heart of your air seeder. Inspect fan blades for buildup or damage, check belt tension and bearing condition, and verify consistent air pressure across all runs. Uneven airflow causes seed separation and variable distribution — problems that won't show up until harvest.

Hose & Boot Condition

Seed delivery hoses take constant abrasion from seed, fertilizer, and soil debris. Cracked, kinked, or worn-through hoses allow seed leakage and pressure loss that throws off your seeding rates. Inspect all runs and boots for wear points, especially near fittings and frame contact areas.

Metering & Calibration

Seed and fertilizer meters wear gradually — and inaccurate metering means you're either leaving yield on the table or overspending on inputs. Calibrate your meters at the start of each season and any time you switch seed varieties or fertilizer types.

Why Stainless Steel Lasts

OEM plastic seed tubes flex, wear, and deform over millions of seed passes and through temperature swings. Stainless steel tubes resist corrosion, maintain their geometry season after season, and reduce buildup — keeping your seeder performing exactly as designed.

Off-Season Storage & Cleaning

After harvest, clean out all seed and fertilizer residue — especially from meters, hoses, and seed carts. Fertilizer left over winter accelerates corrosion and plugs passages. Grease all fittings, cover disc openers, and store the machine somewhere the cold won't crack plastic components.

Trusted Parts Partners

Midwest Air Drill Services is proud to partner with Red-E Ag Parts & Services for aftermarket parts used in our reconditioning and repair work. Red-E specializes in high-performance air seeder and planter components — notched discs, gauge wheels, seed boots, opener discs, stainless steel air cart parts, and much more — built to outlast OEM and keep your machine running at its best.
